This sculpture is a truly unique piece — one where the story behind its creation is just as meaningful as the final result. It brings together a remarkable group of artists, each contributing their vision and craftsmanship along the way.
Scale: Paddock / Littlebits
Size: approx. 12 × 18 cm / 4,7 x 7 inches
The process began with a 3D base model created by Kristina Katunina — a “simple horse,” if such a definition can even apply. It was then transformed by Tatiana Baneman (Dark.Moon.Side studio) into a refined, long-necked Friesian stallion, later named Matteo.
Matteo entered the physical world through the work of Natalia Chernyshevskaya and NCh Model Horse Studio, where he was produced as a high-quality 3D print. Finally, he arrived in my studio, where the piece was brought to its completed, final form.
Four artists. One sculpture.
This collaborative process is, in itself, something I value deeply.
For my part, I dedicated particular attention to the finish.
Long before Matteo arrived, I already had a clear vision of his appearance. From the very beginning, I saw him in cold, icy tones of a black appaloosa.
His coat was developed layer by layer, hair by hair — with an emphasis on depth, texture, and realism. The surface is highly detailed, with a rich and complex structure that changes subtly depending on the light. There are countless shades within his coat — creating a sense of depth that invites closer observation rather than a single glance.
To further enhance his presence, I introduced subtle contrasting elements: deep red undertones within the mane, tail, and feathers, along with striking blue eyes that give his expression a distinctive character.
The model itself reflects the high production standards of NCh Model Horse Studio
— strong, clean, and highly detailed, with the added reliability that is especially important for 3D printed works.
Matteo also carries a show record.
He debuted at the live show Niederrhein in Germany, where he was highly evaluated by the judges.
He was awarded 1st place in his breed subclass and went on to become Champion among resins in his scale division.
He will travel to his new home accompanied by his award ribbons.
